Hi,
I’m Kevin.

I’m a technical writer in Toronto.
I have experience in a supply chain solutions company. I write clear, concise, and accurate documentation for end-users. I work with the product team and SMEs to ensure quality goal-driven documentation for customers. I develop user guides, reference manuals, release notes, video tutorials, and other end-user documentation. I can brainstorm the best way to explain something complex, so you don’t have to.

Online Help – Omni OMS
During my experience working at Tecsys, I maintained and developed web help content for their Omni WMS and Omni OMS products. I authored with Oxygen XML Editor following DITA standards of practice for content reuse. Git repositories were used for version control. Additionally, I created how-to videos for new product features using Camtasia.

E-Learning – Oxygen XML Editor Training
During my experience working at Tecsys, I was tasked with improving the onboarding experience for technical writer interns. I decided to develop a hands-on, interactive training guide for Oxygen XML Editor.
I am a tactile learner who always prefers messing around with what I’m learning to fully learn how something works, so I decided to develop a way to do that for learning Oxygen XML Editor. The guide walks the learner through in Oxygen itself; this helps them become familiar with the UI and navigation naturally.
If you want to try this yourself, download Oxygen XML Editor from here, and sign up for a free trial. Then and download this .zip file, extract it, and open the oxygen_training.dita file in Oxygen to get started.
User Guide – Samsung Galaxy Watch 4
This is a mock-up user guide for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. I created this user guide during my time at Algonquin College. This guide offers a full explanation about the watch’s features, and abides by company tone to build ethos.
FAQ Document – Ministry of Transportation
This is a FAQ document mock up created during my time at Algonquin College. Information is derived from the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, and I created the structure and visual design.
The purpose of the document is to provide information about driver’s licenses, and answer the most common questions in one place to potentially reduce the number of people calling the support line.
Video Tutorial – OBS Studio
This is a long-form tutorial for getting started with OBS Studio.
This was an assignment I created as a student while at Algonquin College. I used OBS Studio itself to record footage, and edited it using DaVinci Resolve. A script was written as an outline, but I opted to speak without a script in order to connect with the audience.
Quick Start Guide Refinement
This is a quickstart guide I found to be unorganized, cluttered, and confusing. I decided to rewrite it to remove repetitive information, unclear instruction, and formatted the entire guide to be easier to read.
Compare before & after by dragging the image.

White Paper -Vertical Farming
This is a white paper explaining the benefits of vertical farming.
This document is for investors in green technology to be distributed in conferences. White papers offer the benefit of educating the reader, while being a persuasive document.

Release Notes – Zoom
I write release notes that prioritize the end-user by not only stating changes; but how they affect the interaction with the product. Users need to know why changes are needed, and why they matter. After all, they are the user.
This is a set of real release notes by Zoom’s mobile client on the Google Play Store. I cleaned up the format so it is easier to read, and added context for the user to know how their experience changes post-update.
How-to: Installing a Screen Protector
Visual guides are efficient for fast explanations. Especially in quickstart guides this can be helpful, as not all users will spend time reading through text.
This is a guide I created to show in the least number of steps how to apply a screen protector correctly on any phone. This was created using Atlassian Confluence.
How-to: IKEA Assembly
This is a set of instructions from IKEA which I converted into text form. Having access to an SME/engineers would have improved the name of the individual parts, as IKEA does not list them specifically on their original set of instructions.
